CED Stone Group Celebrates 40 years

Post date: 26 Sep, 2018

Over the last four decades, we’ve worked hard to stay at the forefront of the landscape industry and fulfil the needs of an ever-changing market. My father, Michael Heap, founded CED in it’s present guise back in 1978. There was no company like CED in the UK - nobody else supplied unusual or special stone materials like we did. Quite simply, CED led the way. In some respects, other companies in the market have copied us here and there – but nobody offers the whole range of hard landscaping materials that we offer our clients.

Interestingly though, for commercial and public realm projects, we are seeing more and more clients choose European stone over Indian or Chinese stone despite the higher associated costs. Why? More often than not this is simply because quality European stone from countries like Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and France can be imported with quicker lead times.

How To Use Boulders: ‘The Viking Cruises Nordic Lifestyle Garden’ At RHS Hampton Court Flower Show

Post date: 28 Jun, 2018

‘It can be difficult to keep a boulder arrangement looking natural – the arrangement won’t look right if they are just randomly placed. Look at the boulders carefully as you are choosing them – make sure they are going to be the right shape for the space they will be sitting in. It’s also essential to dig a depression into the ground for them to sink them into – that will make them look like they have been there for hundreds of years.’ - designer Stephen Hall
