“The well known garden is full of interesting uses of stone. The broadwalk has large and beautiful rocks selected to represent the principal geological periods and all the regions of Wales. The gravels pebbles and chippings are all Welsh.
A long rill runs down the broadwalk to a pebble mosaic. The entrance pavilion and several other areas make excellent use of porphyry cubes there is now pink-grey granite for the steps and riser by the lake.
Elsewhere much paving in granite has been designed flags and grey granite cladding but used as flags.
The most recent walled garden exhibits plants in a botanical order the paths and paving form the hierarchical structure to support the order. The resulting design in granite in tapered pieces porphyry setts in swirling lines and green slate with red sandstone are original and exciting uses of our materials.”
