Last year saw Sadie May Stowell design two gardens on behalf of Brand USA, however, this year, Sadie took one three gardens, including the ‘Great Gardens of the USA: The Oregon Garden’ which won a silver-gilt.
The garden took inspiration from the state’s natural landscape, which includes mountains, scenic gorges and a buzzing wine industry. The garden’s waterfall, a strong focal point of the design, was constructed by the largest boulder, weighing in at almost 4 tonnes.
At 98,000 square miles, the western state of Oregon has a diverse landscape, ranging from rain forests in the Coast Range to barren desert to the South, represented in Sadie’s planting scheme.
