Knapped Chalk Flints

Our standard Knapped Flints are quarried from chalk beds, so the pieces of stone have a white chalk crust. The raw flints are split (knapped) to expose the glossy dark centre of the stones which can then be set into the wall using either a lime or concrete mortar. The dark flint is usually set facing outwards and arranged to create different patterns, but it is often common practice for a few flints to be turned inwards with their white skins showing.
