Rather than battling against our gardens, we should learn to work with them. This RHS Feature Garden demonstrates how embracing the natural qualities of your space can lead to a happier, healthier garden. The design is inspired by the rays of the sun, radiating outward from a central shaded circle into the surrounding space. Subtle references to Yorkshire’s industrial heritage are woven throughout, grounding the garden firmly in its local context.
Visitors are invited to move freely through the garden, transitioning between planting archetypes that range from full sun to deep shade. The pathway, surfaced with CEDEC Silver footpath gravel supplied by CED Stone, guides this journey. Along the way, the garden explores how factors such as aspect, soil type, changes in topography, and moisture levels can be embraced and used to create a beautiful, resilient garden at home.
The garden also reflects the ethos of Biggins Hill Studio, whose work brings horticulture and design together to create distinctive gardens that respond sensitively to their inherent qualities.
