Water Lullaby

The design for Water Lullaby was inspired by Julia's walks around the Peak District.

'I follow a spiralling path into a magical woodland clearing; and walk along a riverbed which leads you round and up to a natural stone outcrop... Here I relax and take in the noise of the water, smell and colours and textures of the planting and rock formations. The gentle babbling of a mountain spring, the beauty of deep blue towering flowers and the scent of sweet smelling chamomile lull me into a deep forest slumber'.

The garden featured a spiralling pathway laid with our cropped setts and a stunning paddlestone plinth water feature which was at the heart of the garden. Scottish Beach Pebbles were used at the base of the water feature leading out to larger cobbles and boulders.

The planting included an exciting combination of woodland and shade-tolerant plants and trees which were supplied by Ladybrook Nursery.

Julia had five days to install her design and put together a team of experts to help with the build. The team consisted of Madeleine Jones and Kirsten Burgess, both Horticultaralists, the landscaper on the build was Gary Ives, with Landscape Architect David Wilson providing technical advice and Stone mason Sally Hodgson built the Paddlestone water feature with marine engineer John Wilson.
