Inspiring Beautiful Show Gardens: Patricia Tyrell showcases Caithness Paving at Bord Bia Bloom
Post date: 30 May, 2025
CED
Stone Landscape in partnership with Norse Stone are delighted to be
supporting garden designer Patricia Tyrell's large feature garden at
this year's Bord Bia Bloom, Ireland's largest gardening festival.
Patricia Tyrell
is an award-winning garden designer and horticulturist, no stranger
to show gardens she has previously won two gold medals and a 'Best in
Category' award from Bord Bia Bloom.
Patricia's
garden at this year’s show, ‘The Plant Lover's Dream’ in the
Easy Steps to Dream Gardens series is inspired by meadows with lots
of flowers and grasses, Patricia tells us,
The
design of this garden is quite natural, I like to feel like I am
enclosed in the plants in my garden so here I have brought the
planting quite close to the house.
Patricia
has kept the hard landscaping in the design simple allowing the
planting to take the main stage. The patio closest to the house
features a built-in bench, 'the ideal spot for morning coffee' while
the centre of the garden features space for a table and chairs with a
second built-in bench and barbecue. The garden has been designed to
give enjoyment throughout the year.
With
the assistance of our good friends at Norse Stone, we are providing
Caithness paving for the pathways and patios, as well as a custom
outdoor worktop for the pizza oven in the garden.
Caithness
stone, named after the county in North Scotland where it has been
quarried for centuries, is a beautiful mudstone renowned for its
strength and durability. This versatile material has been used in
various projects around the world.
Patricia
comments;
I
chose Caithness stone for its natural variation in colour, ranging
from blue greys to browns, and its rugged texture that would enhance
the natural feel of the garden and allows the simplicity of the
design to speak for itself. The team at CED stone were extremely
helpful, and with excellent attention to detail, delivered on
everything I needed from stone to pebble for the garden.
If you
are attending the show please do stop by and speak to our expert team
who will be situated in the marquee beside Patricia's garden.
