After finding this eye-catching boulder in the CED Stone Landscape Scotland Depot's yard, we consulted our resident geologist Simon Copsey for a little more information on the interesting banding on the boulder which appeared to be raised on the outer surface of the stone. A new garden has been launched at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by 11 Foundation a charity set up by Former England footballer Joe Cole and his wife Caryl. The garden is the first in a line of NHS Hospital gardens planned with the ambition of inspiring like-minded businesses to support their local or district hospitals and create more of these sites across the country.

My father, Michael Heap, founded CED in it’s present guise back in 1978. There was no company like CED in the UK - nobody else supplied unusual or special stone materials like we did. Quite simply, CED led the way.

We all know that the UK currently imports huge amounts of stone from China and India. Interestingly though, for commercial and public realm projects, we are seeing more and more clients choose European stone over Indian or Chinese stone despite the higher associated costs. Why? More often than not this is simply because quality European stone from countries like Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and France can be imported with quicker lead times.
